Fitness, Gear, Risk
Untamed Tribe expeditions are built on a simple principle,
Meaningful adventure is earned, not packaged.
Every expedition operates in real environments with real consequences.
These standards exist to protect the team, maintain expedition integrity, and ensure every participant is capable of contributing, not just enduring.
7-DAY EXPEDITIONS
Controlled Environment, Real Exposure
Fitness Standard
You must be able to,
Ruck 6–8 miles carrying 25–35 lbs in under 3 hours
Move consistently for 6–8 hours per day
Complete:
- 20 push-ups
- 30 air squats
- 1-minute plank
Water-based expeditions,
- Swim 200 meters continuously
- Tread water for 5 minutes
Expectation,
You can carry your own gear, maintain pace with the group, and recover overnight without significant performance drop.
Gear Requirement
System-Based, Not Item-Based
You are responsible for a complete, functional personal system.
Your gear must work together under stress, not just exist individually.
Clothing System
- No cotton, all materials must be moisture-wicking and quick-drying
- Base layer, regulates moisture and skin temperature
- Insulation layer, retains heat when wet or at rest
- Weather protection, windproof and waterproof shell required
- Extra dry layer stored in waterproof bag
Standard, you must be able to remain functional when wet, cold, or exposed.
Load System
- 30–50L backpack, properly fitted with load-bearing hip belt
- Weight must transfer to hips, not shoulders
- All gear must be internally secured and weather protected
Sleep System
- Sleeping system rated for the coldest expected temperature, not average
- Ground insulation required, no direct ground contact
- Must maintain recovery-level sleep in field conditions
Hydration System
- Minimum 2–3L water capacity
- At least one backup container required
- Must have method to treat or filter water if applicable
Nutrition System
- Personal calorie system, minimum 2,500–3,500 calories per day depending on environment
- Must function in:
- Wet conditions
- Cold conditions
- Limited cooking scenarios
Lighting System
- Headlamp required, hands-free operation
- Spare batteries and backup light required
- Must support movement in full darkness
Footwear System
- Broken-in footwear required, no new boots
- Terrain-appropriate traction
- Minimum 2 pairs of performance socks
- Blister prevention system required
Personal Medical
- Individual blister care kit
- Any personal medications
- Basic self-care capability for minor issues
Navigation
- Basic understanding of map and terrain
- Ability to orient yourself if separated
- Guides maintain primary navigation authority
14-DAY EXPEDITIONS
Sustained Exposure, Compounding Consequences
This is not an extended tour.
This is a performance environment.
Fitness Standard
You must be able to,
Ruck 10–12 miles carrying 35–50 lbs in under 5 hours
Sustain 8–12 hour movement days
Complete:
- 40 push-ups
- 50 air squats
- 2-minute plank
Water-based expeditions,
- Swim 400 meters continuously
- Tread water for 10 minutes
Expectation,
You can operate under fatigue, manage your own energy, and maintain output across multiple days with limited recovery.
Gear Requirement
Fully Integrated Expedition System
You are expected to operate as a semi-independent expedition member.
Gear failure at this level affects the entire team.
Clothing System
- Full layering system, base, active, insulation, shell
- All layers must function when wet
- Dedicated dry storage system required
- Redundancy for critical layers
Standard, you must be able to regulate temperature across changing conditions without external support.
Load System
- 50–75L backpack with proper load distribution
- Must carry:
- Personal gear
- Assigned group gear
- Pack must remain stable over long-duration movement
Sleep System
- Built for worst-case conditions, not forecast
- Must maintain recovery under:
- Cold
- Moisture
- Fatigue
Sleep failure = performance failure.
Hydration System
- Minimum 3L carry capacity
- Redundant containers required
- Water purification method required
- Ability to manage hydration under exertion
Nutrition System
- Fully self-managed caloric system
- Must sustain performance across 14 days
- Electrolyte management required
- Must function under appetite suppression and fatigue
Lighting System
- Primary headlamp
- Backup light source required
- Redundant power source required
Footwear System
- Expedition-proven footwear only
- Rotation system recommended
- Full blister management kit required
- Ability to maintain foot health over extended duration
Repair and Sustainment
- Personal repair kit required, tape, cordage, patching capability
- Ability to repair:
- Pack issues
- Clothing failures
- Minor gear breakdowns
Personal Medical
- Individual first aid capability
- Blister, hotspot, and minor injury management
- Must not rely on guide for routine care
Navigation
You must be able to:
- Read map and terrain
- Navigate without GPS, basic level
- Understand route decisions
Participants may be required to lead navigation segments.
Risk Profile
You will encounter,
- Cumulative fatigue

- Limited evacuation timelines
- Equipment failure consequences
- Psychological stress, fatigue, isolation, group dynamics
Guide Role, strategic oversight
Your Role, active contributor to safety, pacing, and decision-making
NON-NEGOTIABLE REALITIES

HOW TO KNOW IF YOU’RE READY
7-Day Expeditions
Built for those ready to step beyond comfort and develop real capability, with structure and support.
14-Day Expeditions
Built for those who want more than an experience,
those ready to operate, adapt, and perform in environments where outcomes are earned.
FINAL STANDARD
If you are not fully confident you meet these requirements, you are not ready, yet.
That is not a barrier.
That is the starting point.
Train before you arrive.
Build the systems.
Close the gaps.
You are not expected to figure it out alone.
Our training provides structure, guidance, and real-world preparation, the same systems we use in the field.
This is a tribe.
We prepare together, and we hold the standard together.
Do not guess your way into an expedition.
Prepare for it.
