Untamed Tribe leads small-team expeditions and field training operations in demanding environments around the world.

We are hiring experienced professionals for expedition leadership, wilderness operations, medical support, maritime operations, climbing systems, and technical instruction.

This work is physically demanding, operationally serious, and purpose-driven.

MINIMUM PHYSICAL STANDARDS

All expedition staff are expected to maintain expedition-ready conditioning.

Minimum expectations include:

  • Ruck 6–8 miles carrying 55 lbs
  • Operate effectively during consecutive long field days
  • Maintain composure under fatigue and environmental stress
  • Swim competency for maritime operations
  • Ability to function in austere and remote environments
  • Capability to move safely in uneven terrain while carrying equipment

Additional standards may apply depending on expedition type.


OPEN POSITIONS

Lead Guides

Responsible for expedition leadership, operational decisions, client oversight, instruction, and risk management.

Assistant Guides

Support expedition leadership, logistics, instruction, client management, and field operations.

Expedition Medical Personnel

Provide wilderness medical capability, emergency response, and expedition risk mitigation.

Technical Specialists

Seeking professionals with advanced capability in:

  • Diving
  • Mountaineering
  • Climbing systems
  • Rope rescue
  • Navigation
  • Maritime operations
  • Wilderness medicine

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

Preferred backgrounds include:

  • Military operational leadership
  • Combat arms leadership
  • Austere medicine
  • Emergency medicine
  • Technical rescue
  • SAR leadership
  • Expedition guiding
  • Dive operations
  • Wilderness instruction
  • Remote logistics
  • Risk management

Ideal candidates have experience operating in:

  • Remote environments
  • Dynamic risk environments
  • Maritime or alpine systems
  • Navigation-intensive terrain
  • High-consequence decision-making environments

CERTIFICATIONS

Candidates must hold applicable certifications for their role or demonstrate willingness to obtain required certifications within 6 months of onboarding.


DIVE OPERATIONS

REQUIRED

  • Active Divemaster certification or higher
  • Rescue Diver certification
  • Oxygen provider certification
  • CPR/AED
  • Cavern or cave training for overhead environments
  • Demonstrated dive leadership experience

PREFERRED

  • Technical diving certifications
  • GUE, TDI, or equivalent advanced systems training
  • Nitrox and decompression procedures
  • Cave or technical expedition experience

MOUNTAINEERING & CLIMBING OPERATIONS

REQUIRED

  • Wilderness First Responder minimum
  • Single Pitch Instructor (SPI) or equivalent
  • Rope systems competency
  • Avalanche training
  • Alpine or mountain travel experience

PREFERRED

  • AMGA certifications
  • Glacier travel
  • Crevasse rescue
  • Multi-pitch systems
  • Expedition mountaineering experience

PADDLING & MARITIME OPERATIONS

REQUIRED

  • Swiftwater or water rescue training
  • Open-water rescue competency
  • Navigation proficiency
  • CPR/AED

PREFERRED

  • ACA certifications
  • Expedition kayaking leadership
  • Surf-zone operations
  • Sailing or maritime experience

WILDERNESS & EXPEDITION OPERATIONS

REQUIRED

  • Wilderness medical certification
  • Navigation competency
  • Remote expedition experience

PREFERRED

  • SAR experience
  • Survival instruction
  • Multi-week expedition operations
  • Austere medicine capability

RESPONSIBILITIES

Team members may be responsible for:

  • Expedition leadership
  • Route planning and navigation
  • Environmental and weather assessment
  • Client mentorship and oversight
